What is Mat Based Massage?

My style of mat massage has foundations in Thai massage and rooted in pain science research. The broad, sustained compressions allow the nervous system to relax which aids in relaxing muscle tension. As this happens through compressions and gentle rocking, we are able to sink more deeply into the tissue as we bring in more movement with stretches.

What does a typical session look like?

All sessions begin with a verbal intake of your current pain or discomfort and goals for your session. In general, everyone begins with light to deep compressions and gentle rocking motions to assess the body, increase circulation, and relax the muscles. Stretches are then brought in to aid in releasing tension/knots and improve mobility. Session lengths range from 60 minutes to 3 hours.
