About

Mat Magick is a family operated business located in Yelm, Washington. Our approach to massage and bodywork continues to evolve based on our fluctuating inspirations and commitment to effective treatment. Feel better. Move better. Live better.

Ian Brooks, LMT

Ian studied Massage Therapy at the Center for Neurosomatic Studies in Clearwater, FL after completing the Personal Trainer course at the National Personal Trainer Institute of Seattle where he earned his NASM certification. A lifelong lover of movement, Ian trained and taught mixed martial arts for 7 years, then committed to wrestling for 3 years in high school. Since then Ian earned an RKC kettlebell instructor certificate in March 2013 and became RMT Rope certified in 2021. Ian has explored many meditative/yogic approaches (particularly Paratheatre and Radical Undoing) that have informed his approach to massage and bodywork. Ian is a huge nerd of astrology and the human body, enjoys reading sacred texts, doing daily I Ching readings, playing his Djimbe and Didjeridoo, and spending time with the family. Ian takes an analytical full body approach to his massage work, adapting as he goes to what is changing in the body.

Jennifer Brooks, LMT

Jennifer discovered how effective massage was for her during her time bodybuilding and dealing with fibromyalgia. Running with that inspiration, she jumped into massage training at Body Mechanics School of Massage and Myotherapy in Tumwater, WA, graduating in January 2016. After trying out a few different popular massage modalities, she discovered mat based massage. She spent a couple of years studying and practicing this work before deciding to completely change her business model. Jennifer took Kneaded Bliss Massage from the table to the mat, rebranded to Mat Magick, and brought her husband into the fold. Jennifer adapts seamlessly to the client's evolving needs, allowing her powerful intuition to guide the session. When she isn't working on the business or on clients she can be found chasing after her two toddlers, crafting in some form, or continuing to study mat massage techniques.
